Meet Annalin

Movement Specialist • Dancer • Educator

Annalin is a highly experienced dancer and movement specialist with more than 20 years of teaching practice.

Her work brings together formal dance education, body conditioning, movement observation and creative exploration.

Rather than focusing on one dance style alone, she helps participants understand how their bodies move, prepare safely for activity and develop a more conscious connection between movement, expression and emotion.

Dance and movement background

Annalin began her movement journey through rhythmic gymnastics before continuing her formal training in ballet and character dance. She later expanded her experience through jazz, contemporary dance, yoga, kinesiology, pole dance and Oriental dance.

She has performed in classical productions, contemporary projects, entertainment shows and short films, as well as developing her own work in Fusion and Show Belly Dance.

This varied background gives her a versatile and practical understanding of movement across different dance disciplines.

Body and mind connection

Dance Movement Psychotherapy is a distinct professional discipline and separate from Annalin’s dance career and teaching practice. However, her postgraduate studies have expanded the theoretical knowledge and movement-observation skills that support her continued development as a movement specialist.

Her approach draws upon Laban Movement Analysis, the Kestenberg Movement Profile and Bartenieff’s principles of body connectivity. These sit alongside knowledge gained through her formal dance education, including kinesiology, ballet theory, body conditioning and movement preparation.

Together, these perspectives inform her exploration of how the body organises movement, how physical and emotional expression may be connected, and how greater awareness can support mobility, creativity and more conscious movement.

NOTE: Her festival sessions are educational movement experiences and are not Dance Movement Psychotherapy or a substitute for therapeutic support.

Teaching approach

Annalin’s sessions encourage participants to listen to their bodies, explore movement with curiosity and prepare themselves for dance in a safe and effective way.

Her approach may include:

✓ mobility and body activation

✓ stretching and preparation for movement

✓ coordination and body awareness

✓ the connection between movement and emotion

✓ creative movement exploration

✓ Fusion and Show Belly Dance
