The Only Body You Need for Belly Dance Is Your Own

This week something really made me stop and think.
On the same day, I received two messages. One lady told me she was too overweight to join. The other told me she was too slim.
Different women. Different bodies. Exactly the same conclusion:
“I’m not ready yet.”
And it made me realise something.
I honestly think grown women are often far more affected by criticism than teenagers. We’ve spent years hearing comments about our bodies.

Too big. Too small. Too old. Too loud. Too quiet.
After a while, we don’t even need other people to criticise us anymore. We do it ourselves.
And I’m genuinely curious…
Aren’t you tired of living like that?
Of worrying what strangers might think? Of waiting until you’re “good enough”?
Because here’s the truth…
Nobody else gets to decide what brings you joy.
If dancing makes you happy…
Dance.
If you love the music…
Come.
If you’ve always wanted to try belly dance…
Then don’t let someone else’s opinion become your life decision.

Our classes aren’t full of professional dancers.
They’re full of normal women.
Women who work. Women who have children. Women in their 20s, 40s, 60s and beyond. Women who laugh, make mistakes, learn and keep coming back.
One of the most empowering things you can do is simply give yourself permission.

Permission to take up space.
Permission to learn.
Permission to enjoy your own body exactly as it is today.
So if you’ve been waiting for the “right time”…
Maybe this is your sign to stop waiting.
We’ll be here when you’re ready. 💜
